Didn't know about that Punk book, will have to buy it. I love the homemade aspect that many of those designs had.

my first gig, down the front at the barrier on the friday. my new Lonsdale t-shirt got all shredded by the holes in the barrier as i got shoved around. The verve as support were incredible and we got to hear all the Morning Glory songs before the album came out. i remember coming home and feeling like i could still hear all the songs in my ears playing at once. i only now appreciate that it was actually the cause of my lifelong tinnitus.

Oasis paid a heavy price when the his driving, recognisable drumming went.

I don’t believe his firing was ultimately really about his drumming. From reading his book, it sounds like Tony wasn’t scared of Noel and Noel’s ego couldn’t handle that fact. With Alan McGee‘s support and lavish praise Noel was trying to transform himself and ascend to this godlike rock genius/leader of the band. During this period Tony still wanted to treat him like an equal but Noel couldn’t deal with it. I got the feeling that it’s almost like Noel couldn’t take himself seriously as the uber rockstar with someone from his youth there treating him like just a friend on the dole they were in a band with. It seems he had to have his ass kissed and be unchallenged in order to take himself seriously…and Tony wasn’t willing to do that. Guigsy and Bonehead were still willing to at that point so they stayed…for awhile. Liam wasn’t prepared to kiss ass either but he could sort of get away with it because he was the singer and Noel’s brother…for awhile. I have total respect for Noel’s songwriting genius and he’s probably an awesome guy to have a few pints of Guinness with. However, I think being in a band with him was a different story, at least back then. It really does seem that the rise of his ego, which again I feel like he needed in order to take himself seriously as a superstar rock God, got out of control and eventually drove everyone from that original band away from him. Like so many other rockstars before him he’s therefore ended up with hired hands and yes men vs true bandmates and the music has suffered. It almost seems like a bit of a Napoleonic complex to be honest, coupled with an inherent chip on his shoulder from growing up poor, but I’ll stop the armchair psychoanalysis there. Anyway, Tony is indeed a great drummer and should hold his head very high.

Brilliant Brian, enjoyed this. That station on the cover shot of Some Might Say is 10 minutes away from me lol its the best Oasis song ever written in my opinion. Great to see and hear Owen speak

These album covers are pure genius. I've always loved them. I didn't know why, but always knew there was something more to them. Sadly, the art of the album cover is lost in this age of digital music. Honestly, I'd enjoy building up a record collection for home listening and have my digital albums to-go for driving and whatnot.

Tony was a huge part of the Oasis sound. The first 2 albums are the Oasis sound. I'm glad to hear a recording engineer agree with what I thought for many years. Tony wasn't necessarily bad. "Oh he can't drum in time". That's only needed for recording. During live, he can drift in and out. He is a punk drummer. Solid. Too bad Noel didn't like him at all. In the public eye Oasis are "similar to the Beatles" or whatever. But that's not true at all. The Oasis sound is a rock punk hybrid with great melodies. And Tony McCarroll was the backbone, the key ingredient to that sound. Yeah, Whitey was a technician, but the core sound was lost in the last 4 albums. Don't get me wrong, still great songs in the last 4 albums. I LOVE Dig Out Your Soul. But it's not the Oasis sound of the first two.

Apparently Alan white only got in the band because of him being Paul wellers nephew or cousin or something. I never thought he could drum as well as Tony. Just didn’t have the energy. Versatility. Sharpness. It just never sounded the same after DM. But ……such is life. Everything happens for a reason. Can’t question gods will. Good luck with all you do Tony mate. 👌💯🙏🏻

Proper interesting to find out the real truth. I’d heard rumours as ya do. But nothing like the truth. Sad how they just decided that Tony didn’t fit. I hope he’s set for life though and happy. That’s the main thing. Love ya Tony. I’d love a “ alright our kid”. Or anything from you if you ever even read this. I thought you were the bizz mate. Love luck. Light n love to you bro. Original founder. ✌️✌️✌️✌️👍💯🙏🏻🙏🏻

All the info still coming out. Could be a cry for fame, could be huge fans. But it’s all publicity and these guys worked with the bands. So it’s interesting to hear stories of what went on behind the scenes. However, everyone has some words to say about Noel either good or bad for the last 10 years. All I will say is! Don’t hate any of the band members for being able to do what so few of us ever could. I love the stories though 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

WHERE HAVE ALL THE BOOTBOYS GONE. How relevant is that song now. Great interview saw them perform at Middlesborough Rock Garden, I think it was 1978... Brilliant days. If I remember rightly I also saw them in I think it was 1980 and they shortened the name to just Slaughter.
